Biographies
Reverend
Father Kevin J. Forsyth was born September 15, 1956 in New Haven, CT. He attended Saint
Francis School
in New Haven until the Forsyth family moved
to Hamden
in 1965. He then attended Saint
Rita’s School. He graduated Hamden High School in 1974 after having
consistently made the Honor Roll and serving as Drum Major of the Marching
Band. He attended the University of Bridgeport, graduating cum laude
in May 1978 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. He taught vocal music at West Woods
Elementary School and instrumental
music at Sleeping Giant Junior High School,
both in Hamden. After completing Master’s courses for
certification for elementary school at Southern Connecticut State
University, he attended Saint Mary Seminary & University in Baltimore Maryland,
graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor’s in Sacred Theology and a Master’s of
Divinity. He was ordained a Deacon
on June 6, 1985 and a priest on December 20, 1986. He has served as parochial vicar at Saint Paul Church,
Glastonbury, Saint Matthew Church in
Forestville, and Saint John Church in Watertown. He has served as Administrator in four
parishes: Saint Clare, East Haven; Saint John,
Watertown; Saint Joseph,
Waterbury; and Saint Mary, New Britain. He was named Pastor of Saint Vincent
Ferrer Church effective his 47th birthday on September 15, 2003.
Patricia
Meehan
joined our staff as Director of the Child Care
Center in August
1990. She also serves our parish as
an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion.
Stephen
Kenny
became the Director of Religious Education on 30 August 2004. Previously, he had served as DRE at Saint
Anthony Church in Prospect. He plays
the trombone and is a member of the Connecticut Governor’s Foot Guard Band,
2nd company.
Diane
Hejna joined
the staff as parish secretary on Monday March 14, 2005. She is a resident of Waterbury and a parishioner of Our Lady
of Mount Carmel, where she serves as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy
Communion. She is a former resident
of Naugatuck
and was a member of our parish when Father Vito was pastor way back to when
Mass was celebrated in what is now the Continental Room.
Frank
Hamilton
was born in Lansing, Michigan and is a veteran of the U. S.
Navy. While his ship was in port in Bridgeport, CT,
he met his future wife Joan Burgess.
They were married on 30 August 1958.
They have two sons and a daughter and four grandchildren. Frank was with the Connecticut State
Police Auxiliary, Troop “G” Westport for 23 years and is a retiree of
Bridgeport Machines. He is a member
of the Knights of Columbus, Tinto Council 47, Milford CT, Past Grand Knight 3rd
Degree and Past Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree, Captain of
the K of C Honor Guard, Milford,
a member of the Saint Agnes Holy Family Retreat and a member of the
Elks. He and his wife resided in Stratford for 42 years before moving to Naugatuck in July
2000. Frank joined our staff in
September 2002.
Jim
Tessman
joined our staff as bookkeeper shortly after Father Forsyth’s arrival in
September 2003. Jim and Father
attended Saint Mary’s Seminary together during the 1982-83 school
year. While at Seminary Jim’s dad
passed away, and at the end of that academic year, Jim left formation to
return home to care for his mother, who even now into her 80’s is still
taking care of him. Jim is also
bookkeeper for the American Legion.
Cornell J. Bialicki was born in New Haven, CT and attended Saint Stanislaus Elementary School
and Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT. He graduated from Southern Connecticut
State University with a B.S. Degree in Education and taught at the Bethany Community School
for 35 years. He also has an M.S.
Degree in Psychology and 6th Year Certificate in
Administration-Supervision. He
maintains his certifications as Educator, School Guidance Counselor, and
Administrator in the public schools in the State of CT.
Cornell is currently organist and choir director at Saint Vincent
Ferrer. He is also active with CECA
- the CT Educators Computer Association and is working as a part-time snow
sports instructor at Stratton
Mountain, VT.
during the winter months. Prior to
coming to Saint Vincent Ferrer he was organist at Saint Stanislaus Church
in New Haven
and accordion player for the Crystal Bells Polish Orchestra. Cornell lives in Bethany.
